Work location: Sint Maarten 

Healt, Safety and Environment

• Compliance Monitoring: The Specialist shall ensure that all technical obligations and regulations related to environmental, social, health, and safety aspects are strictly complied with by the Contractor;
• Non-Compliance Reporting: The Specialist shall promptly identify any instances of non-compliance and notify the Contractor, requiring immediate corrective actions to address deficiencies, errors, or omissions without impacting project execution;
• Non-Compliance Follow-Up: The Specialist shall document all non-conformities, inform the Client, and monitor corrective actions through to resolution;
• Progress Reporting: The Specialist shall record all findings and their status in progress reports, including incident reports;
• Site Safety Inspections: The Specialist shall conduct safety inspections on the construction site and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Project Management Support

• Assist the Project Director with contract administration in accordance with the Client’s requirements and FIDIC principles;
• Participate in monitoring work progress, schedules, changes, claims, and requests for extensions of time;
• Coordinate the review and processing of RFIs, technical submittals, shop drawings, and the Contractor’s work methods;
• Support the coordination of technical specialists and site supervision activities;
• Contribute to quality control activities, testing follow-up, and verification of compliance for materials, equipment, and completed works;
• Participate in quantity verification and the preparation of technical and contractual reports and recommendations;
• Collaborate with the Client, Contractor, site authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

• University degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field;
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role, including at least 5 years on infrastructure construction projects;
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations governing the construction industry;
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
• Fluency in both French and English is required;
• Spanish language proficiency is considered an asset;
• Strong customer service skills, professionalism, and courtesy;
• Demonstrated initiative, autonomy, and discretion.
